So out of the most recent exercises my interest has been in how glalpagos can help develop program. I have seen examples on the web where individuals use galapagos to help them develop 3d models of program and egress placement…looks like it may be too much for me to develop with my level of experience. BUT I did notice one of our excercises deal with program…so I'd like to know how I could use that in conjunction to a definition I found on this site: http://crtl-i.com/blog/2010/06/same-area-voronoi-using-galapagos/
to essentially divide program equally amongst a pre designed shape (plan view).

Also looking at the "program.ghx" file i am not sure how to change the desired area quantity there are two panels one on the very far left that can be edited and the other on the far right that states "Desired Area" that can't be edited. I understand how both these definitions work I need help bringing them together. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

You can't edit the desired square area panel as it is receiving information. It is there to show that the areas for each space add up to be greater than the available floor area. 4 panel components control designer areas for each of the 4 program zones. You should edit those to change the areas

I don't know how compatible these two systems are directly… basically the system will need to look something like:

1. A series of points control the Voronoi cells.
2. Each point will have a square area associated with it (the target fitness).
3. You will give Galapagos control over the X and Y position of each individual point The genes).
4. Galapagos will move the points around until the target fitness is achieved.

This, of course, is probably an over simplification of the approach. Give it a shot and post your attempts.
